DOMA overturned-- REJOICE

Hey, blahggers!  Big day yesterday.  Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard that DOMA, or Prop 8, has been overturned, making gay marriage legal again in California!  Who's excited?

So many people are going crazy over this, and there are so many reasons why they shouldn't be.  I'm gonna cover some of the bases that fundamentalists have touched.  Here are the main 4 you hear about. Some of them go hand in hand, but whatever.

1)  "Gay marriage is a sin."

2)  "God hates gays"

3)  "Marriage is only between a man and a woman, according to the definition."

4)  "Homosexuality is an unnatural abomination."

For starters, separation of church and state.  Your religion, whatever it may be, has no place in the United States government.  I find it slightly ironic how most conservatives are so against gun control even though no one is talking about taking away your pistol because they believe that it's "unconstitutional," but they're ready to go against one of the base principles that this country was founded upon.  So even if gay marriage is a "sin," or if your god "hates gays," it's none of your goddamn business OR the government's.  Oh, by the way, gay marriage isn't a sin.  Only gay sex is a sin, according to the Old Testament, but fundamentalists overlook most of the Old Testament anyways.

Definitions change over the years.  Just because marriage was once only for men and women, doesn't mean we can't change.  Why would you deny anyone rights just because they happen to like familiar genitalia?

Last but not least, homosexuality is completely NATURAL.  Homosexuality can be observed in many species.

Homophobia can be observed in only one.

I hope this has either made you think and reconsider your beliefs, or brought you happiness in the fact that someone out there thinks like you.  Besides, even if you disagree with this, I hope you appreciate the effort I took into coloring this.  Have a great day :)
