Sibelius...

Greetings, Blahggers,

As I'm sure  many of you are fully aware, this country is smack dab in the middle of a HUGE health care reform. Known by many as "Obamacare", the Affordable Care Act affects almost everyone in America. One of the assets to the ACA is a website through which all those affected are required to purchase or sign up for health care. Unfortunately, it is glitching. This website was created by Kathleen Sibelius.

This blah will not talk about her or any of the aforementioned horror. I will instead be talking about music :)

Busy....Busy....Dreadfully Busy!

For starters--watch this vid :) apologies for terrible quality...

As a kid, I was a huge fan of veggie tales. One of the less-known episodes was set in the town of Fliberoloo where Larry got his head stuck in a hole. None of the townspeople would help, because they were so dreadfully busy. They made a point to sing about how busy they were.... The song took more than enough time to get Larry out of the hole.

Miley Cyrus' VMAs Performance

It's no secret that Miley Cyrus went wild at the VMAs.  Everybody knows.  Everybody cares...  but should anybody really?

People have come down on her really hard for something so silly and insignificant.  What do they care about so much?

So here it is. The end of this "week of wonder" as I called it on a whim. I hope you've enjoyed, or maybe thought about what makes your life special,  or at the very least found something else to distract you on the internet.

Sounds like maybe another Chipotle post, right? Well, kinda, yeah. Ever since I started,  I've worked every Saturday--and this one is no different! However sometimes the managers can reallllly get under my skin. Today's post'll talk about some of the things they do that annoy me--and then I'll flip it and say why that's good. Yeah, it's gonna be challenging.

Freedom Fridays!

Wheeeee!!

It's pretty terrible basing an entire day's highlights off of the fact that you don't have to work so long, meaning ya don't make as much money, but that's what I'm doing.

Worshiping Wednesdays

Generally,  I love Wednesdays. I wouldn't say I worship them, as the title suggests, or wait with baited breath for them to come around, but Wednesdays are a good day. And this one? This Wednesday is the day where, if I were to be attending school, I would be meeting up with my AWESOME roommates and counselling new freshmen in Music Theory Bootcamp. But I'm not. To tell you the truth...

This is hard.

Thrifty Tuesdays: Adventures in the Great... Goodwill

I don't go thrifting on Mondays,  Wednesdays or Fridays. I don't go on Thursdays, or even on the weekend. No, blahggers, I only go on Tuesdays. only. Ever. And only at Goodwill.

Want a little MESSY with that MONDAY?

It's a Monday. Soooo I bet you can guess what I did after I got home from work! Well, after I ate food cuz I was hungry, and made some noodles by mom's orders, and changed out of my oily clothes...THEN I...well, you know!

You don't? Oh blahggers...you have SO much to learn.

Fall semester is fast approaching but I'm not going to be heading back to Mankato.  I'm not particularly happy with this turn of events and as such, starting tomorrow, I've decided to write a blah a day about what makes each day special & what I have to look forward to this fall.

Journalism-ing

Heyo, Blahggers!

It's finally here! The post about the best class EVER to grace the planet! Journalism!

You may or may not know this, but Isabel and I were in the same class this past year. Our little almost-sophomore had an amazing first year in journalism, if I do say so myself. ;) She did have some pretty awesome mentors....Myself included. Haha!

Why I should have been born a potato....

Greetings, my loyal Blahggers!

Or, welcome to those of you who have merely stumbled across this blahg by mistake, on purpose, or came on a recommendation!

Today I am letting loose a bit of my insanity and am here to give you several reasons as to why I should have been born a potato. Or, why ANYONE should have been born as such.

Hetalia

Heyo, Blahggers!

Once again, I'm writing a post about my complete and total nerdiness. I've always been fascinated by all things Japan. (One of the reasons why I'm super excited to be taking Japanese this year!!!) And, I'm not going to lie, I'm a total anime/manga geek.

I have WAY to many favorites to list, such as Fullmetal Alchemist (I prefer Brotherhood, for those who know what I'm talking about...), Fruits Basket, Vampire Knight, Shugo Chara, Higurashi, Inuyasha, and, my top-ranging favorite, Hetalia.

A Gradu....What?!?!

Hey, Blahggers

So, I'm feeling pretty strange today....I mean, it's been a month since I graduated from high school. I haven't felt very different from before I did any day but graduation day. Maybe it's just weird because time is flying by and the fact that I've graduated and am leaving home soon is starting to feel more and more like a reality.

Hey, Blahggers.

Okay, okay, I know...It's sad that I'm a Brony. (Or Pegasister for those who insist that Brony is not a unisex term.) I am totally OBSESSED with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. (RAINBOW DASH ALL THE WAY FTW!!!)

Now Where's That Pot 'O Gold....

So Blahggers, I FINALLY got a job. I successfully avoided my standard of no McDonalds or similar fast food restaraunts and got a job at....a machine shop. Yeah.

But really, its not bad. So I sit on a stool all day and spray off parts with an air hose. And hey, I get $10 bucks an hour. Yeah buddy.

Chemistry!!!

Hey there, Blahggers!

So, I promised two posts: one about journalism, and one about chemistry. So, here's the happy AP chem post!!!!

My school goes by a block schedule, which (for the people, like me when I first moved here, who don't know what that is) means that I have four classes one day, and another for the next. Repeat cycle. However, AP chem was a double block, which means I had it both days. It was a relatively small class, there were only 11 of us, not including the teacher.

Beaching it up

Hiya, Blahggers!

So, there's one place that I love more than any other place. When I'm at the beach, I feel at home and pretty much free. If I could, I'd go to the ocean and never leave. There's an amazing feeling to if that I just can't get anywhere else!

Mad for Mike

Hiya, Blahggers!

So, recently I've been obsessed with a YouTube star who makes all his own music. He does original pieces, yes, but what I mean by "makes his own music" is every sound you hear in these songs is a sound he made with his body. He uses no instruments. Perhaps you've heard of him or seen the Harris Teeter commercial he did. His name is Mike Tompkins. And he is totally amazing!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMERICA!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR AMERICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Haha! Happy Fourth of July, Blahggers!!!

Today is a day of excitement, fireworks, cotton candy, fairs, cooking on the grill, parades (and candy), but, most importantly, today is a day which we celebrate our independence from Britain!!

Addicted

Hey, Blahggers.

Have you ever noticed there are so many things people are addicted to? Games, TV shows, people, gum, books, you name it! Everyone has some weird addiction that actually doesn't have anything "addictive" by medical definition about it.

Happy Birthday, Neighbors!

G'day, Blahggers!

So, I live in the grand old US of A. Independence Day is only three days away for us! But, before WE celebrate the birthday of the red, white, and blue, our next door neighbors deserve a hoot, holler, and a happy birthday wish, as well.

So, I wish a wonderful 146th birthday to the Maple Leaf-ers up north!

Have you ever noticed that people in commercials or TV shows tend to talk like you? I never understood that because there are so many dialects and accents in these fifty nifty United States. There's the good old Southern drawl, the stuck-up-speech of the East Coast, and, of course, the MinnesOtan accent.

DOMA overturned-- REJOICE

Hey, blahggers!  Big day yesterday.  Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard that DOMA, or Prop 8, has been overturned, making gay marriage legal again in California!  Who's excited?

So many people are going crazy over this, and there are so many reasons why they shouldn't be.  I'm gonna cover some of the bases that fundamentalists have touched.  Here are the main 4 you hear about. Some of them go hand in hand, but whatever.

Twinsters

Heya, Blahggers!

Sorry about my week-long lag in posting. I got a wonderful and amazing surprise graduation gift: One of my best friends from Minnesota came all the way to Virginia to spend a week here with me! I've referred to her before. That's right, Britt!

She and my parents had, apparently, been plotting for months and had kept it a secret. I thought we were going to the airport that day to pick up a close family friend who used to room with us because she wanted to see my graduation. :) Boy, was I ever surprised when Britt stepped off the plane!!!!

Controversial

What is up, Blahggers?

So, my friend Britt and I were talking. And when we get talking, crazy things happen. And when I say crazy, I mean completely-off-the-wall-sometimes-I-wonder-if-we-belong-in-a-home crazy. But, then again, it is fun crazy that we can look back and laugh or think upon.

Fathers' Day

G'day, Blahggers!  And Happy Fathers' Day to all :)

Fathers' Day isn't just about fathers, but all the important men in your life you could look up to as a father.  Sometimes, that person for people is their uncle, brother, adoptive family, etc.  It's not just a father.  Some people don't have that figure, but rather others.  Sometimes, it's just your mom taking care of you, no men in your life at all.  I have a friend who said his mom was his dad and told her to have a happy Fathers' Day.  It was really beautiful.  Point being, it's not just a father you should celebrate today.  Celebrate any man in your life who has played an influential role in helping you grow up.

We're gonna win TWINS

Good evening blahggers!
Like the tennis chemist is a huge fan of....well...TENNIS, I am a huge fan of baseball. Like HUGE. As in, if there is a Twins game on any where close to where I am having a conversation with my friends, they know that I'm pretty much just going to be ignoring them.

Something Somber

Hey, Blahggers.

I'm going to head this one off by saying (if you didn't guess from the title) that this post is going to be rather morbid. It can't be helped.

So, I graduate from high school tomorrow. (Finally.) Any so many of my family members have sent letters and cards and stuff. Plus, some (Mom, step-father, Mom's parents, my siblings) are actually coming to watch the ceremony, despite several disturbances to the idea. (For instance, Beckbeck, as we so lovingly call her, took quite an nasty spill today and terrified all of us. She's okay, no worries, and she says she's going to be coming tomorrow...)

The First Time I Set Foot on a Stage

Hey Blahggers!

Look at what I found! I had COMPLETELY forgotten about this! Last year, most everyone in my journalism class submitted an entry to a Free Lance Star (newspaper, for those of you who don't know) competition.

Well, my mother happened to Google search me the other day, and she found it on the Star's website!!! :) I figured I mas as well post it. XD Enjoy!

Volunteering lame?

Hello, blahggers :)

Huge storm coming our way in VA so I decided to take this time to tell you about how enriching volunteering can be.

A lot of people think volunteering is something like picking up trash on the side of the highway when in reality, there are many opportunities to volunteer.  You can volunteer at your local library, like me, food bank, like I used to, soup kitchens, like I want to, and so many others.

The World Needs People who are Alive

Hey Blahggers!
Live those lives! Like the title says, the world needs people who are alive. By that, I mean both literally and figuratively, of course. So...don't be going all zombie on me. THAT'S not what the world needs. Unless...well, I'll get to that later.

Reincarnation? Think about it.

This is just a random thought that has crossed my mind when I was trying to find answers, a religion, or whatever.  I wasn't raised anything, not atheist, Christian, Hindu, nothing.  Currently, I'm an atheist, but when bouncing between faiths, I often dreamed of an afterlife.  One of the topics that crossed my mind was reincarnation, which was comforting, until I thought about it for more than a minute.

Beautiful Mistakes

Evening, Blahggers!

You're probably extremely curious (and in some cases worried) about the title of today's blah. Don't worry, it's not bad. Actually, quite grand and productive.

You see, I love making mistakes. No sarcasm involved. I mean, yes, there are many many cases where I HATE it more than anything, but  that doesn't apply when I'm playing or learning to play a song on the piano. Especially when I'm learning.

This Could Get Very Interesting

Dear blahggers,

Isabel (aka Latin fire) has pointed out in her blah that her views are very secular and liberal. There's nothing wrong with that...but I am the COMPLETE opposite. I also seriously like to argue.

Saucing up Science with some Theory

What's up, Blahggers?

So, recently I've been OBSESSED with this one YouTube channel called Vsauce. This guy is totally NUTZO, but the points he brings up are really interesting. He talks about why we find things cute, why we wear clothes, if our reds are the same. (That was the first one I watched and I embedded it at the bottom of the post.) Personally, I found this EXTREMELY fascinating. I LOVE science and conspiracy and theorizing and whatnot.

Your life just got better

Well, hello!  I see you've stumbled upon this post.  Congratulations.  You're reading the work of a true artist.

I'm going to start by warning you in advance- I can be quite mean and provocative.  My views are secular and liberal.  If you don't like that, sucks to suck.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I'm Isabel Molina.  I'm in high school.  I live in VA.  I'm amazing.  I love pizza and waffles.  I'm fun and outgoing.  You'll love me!  I'm mixed with Hispanic and Caucasian.  I know some ASL and Spanish, but am only fluent in English, Pig Latin, and Sarcasm.  You'll love me!

Your life just got significantly better, because you're reading what I wrote, and I am pretty fantastic.

Honorary Honors

'Sup, my blahgging Blahggers?

Today was a rather eventful Saturday. Much better than last Saturday. Last Saturday I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. This week has been a a real pain. No pun intended. But I liked this Saturday. I slept in. Which is a beautiful thing. Because it hasn't been happening for me much lately.

Blah blah blah...

And by that I literally mean, I have nothing good to say. I do however have some incredibly random junk that my brain is spitting out so I shall blather that at you for a good while.

Anyhow, hi again, Blahggers.

:) IM DOING IT! IM POSTING ON THE DAILY BLAH

Helloooo Blahggers!

My name's Madelaine, and I'm going to be joining the crew here at the Daily Blah. What a fun idea, right? I was in love when I first followed the facebook link here and started reading. So, naturally, I was pretty excited when asked to contribute!

Tying Up Loose Ends

G'day, my wonderful Blahggers!

Well, my second day of exams is officially over. Seniors take their exams before everyone else in my school, so the underclassmen haven't started testing yet and are, or should be, still in school. After exams, seniors can just up and leave, which I did. There are only two exams in a day and today was 3-Y and 2-Y. Seeing as I was exempt from my AP chem final because I took the AP TEST a month or so ago, I just went into the room and helped her clean. It was actually a good time. I DID, however, have to take my Spanish final.

Overview and Apology

Hello there, Blahggers!

First off, I wanted to offer my sincere apologies for the complete and utter disregard I've had towards the Daily Blah since my last post, despite my promise to update more often.

This year has been CRAZY between the job that I got at Vinny's Italian Grill, my classwork, preparing for college, life's normal dramas, extra curricular activities, and a whole bunch of other things.
